Aluminum windows can bring a sharp, contemporary styling to any home. They can be made with narrow frames to yield the largest glass possible. This can help bring the outside in and make a home look more open.

Aluminum window products come in different build types:
Like steel windows, basic aluminum window products are not naturally energy efficient because aluminum is a conductor of heat, not an insulator. This can be overcome depending on what the window is intended for and how the frame is made. Read more about each type below.
IWC Ambassador Windows That Meet ENERGY STAR 7.0
Phoenix is in ENERGY STAR’s Southern zone. Under ENERGY STAR 7.0, a window there needs a U-factor of 0.32 or lower and a solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) of 0.23 or lower (ENERGY STAR). U-factor measures how easily heat passes through the whole window, and SHGC measures how much of the sun’s heat gets in. Lower is better for both.
Picture windows have the easiest time meeting those numbers, because they are mostly glass with no moving sash. Single-hung and single slider windows have more aluminum in their frames and sashes, which makes it harder. That’s why we have our IWC Ambassador windows custom made with a special glass and glass spacer (the strip around the edge that holds the two panes apart). With it, even our Ambassador single-hung and single slider windows can qualify for ENERGY STAR 7.0, along with our picture windows.
Meeting ENERGY STAR 7.0 also makes these windows eligible for SRP’s window replacement rebate. SRP pays $3 per square foot on ENERGY STAR windows with a U-factor of 0.32 or lower and an SHGC of 0.23 or lower, installed by an Arizona-licensed contractor before April 30, 2027. The rebate is for homes on SRP electric service, so APS customers don’t qualify.
As an SRP participating contractor, we meet these requirements whenever we can, depending on the windows you want. Ask at your free, no-pressure estimate which of your choices will qualify. Our SRP Window Rebate guide explains how to apply.
