What to Know Before You Replace Windows in Phoenix
Start with the question you have. Each answer links to the page that explains it in full.
Will new windows lower my power bill?
Usually, if your windows are single-pane or early dual-pane without a Low-E coating. Our energy efficient windows page explains how efficiency is measured and what changes it.
What do U-factor and SHGC mean?
U-factor tells you how much heat passes through the whole window; lower is better. SHGC (solar heat gain coefficient) tells you how much of the sun’s heat comes through the glass; in Phoenix, lower is better too. Both are printed on the NFRC label of every rated window.
Which glass should I get?
Not all Low-E glass is the same. Compare hard coat and soft coat Low-E, laminated and tempered glass on our glass types page. For security, see impact glass.
What am I paying for in a window?
Frames, sashes, spacers, weatherstripping and locks all affect how long a window lasts. Our window components page walks through each part.
Do new windows add resale value?
See what new windows and doors can mean when you sell on our house resale value page.
Can I get a rebate?
If you’re an SRP customer, yes, on qualifying windows and on sliding glass doors that are at least 80% glass. APS customers don’t qualify for SRP’s rebate. We’re an SRP participating contractor, and our SRP Window Rebate page has the current rules.
